Jasmin-Nicole Amoako (she/her) is a Ghanaian-Canadian visual artist and community arts facilitator. She is a graduate of the Drawing and Painting program from the Ontario College of Art and Design University (2021). Through figurative art, abstraction, and sacred African braiding practices, she depicts contemporary visuals of Black womanhood and West African aesthetics. She creates large-scale portraits and abstract dreamscapes inspired by memories, Adinkra symbols, and traditional African hairstyles. In her artwork, she explores themes of spirituality, community, and nature using a combination of shapes, patterns, textures, and vibrant colors.

When did you start making art, and why?
I have always been artistic but I started focusing on creating art in high school. Painting is my main creative and meditative outlet. I make art to see myself represented frequently in the media as a dark skin Black woman.
